Anyone outside of Spurs fans see Duncan as just another 40 year old athlete and all the talk is about how he is done. Sorry to burst your bubble, but he’s not going anywhere, not just yet. Spurs fans understand how much Duncan loves this game way too much to step away now. Yeah he was not as much of a factor against the Thunder as people were expecting, but why were your expectations so high. The play style of the Thunder, and the Warriors had they made it past the Thunder, are not one that favors Duncan. However, if you look back to the regular season, he put up 8.6 PPG and 7.3 RPG. Yes that was the lowest for his career, but he only averaged 25 minutes a game. If you ask me that is still pretty productive for a big man.
Yes Duncan may not have the biggest impact in the postseason anymore as he used to, but he is still a valuable asset for the Spurs during the regular season. This is a good time to remind you that a team has to have a good regular season to make the playoffs. Duncan can help the Spurs through the regular season still all while sharing his wisdom with the younger players like Kawhi, Aldridge, and Anderson. I say Duncan exercises his option to return for one last year and possibly talks Ginobli in to one last year as well after we saw some flashes of the old Ginobli at times this season.
